Jagged Edge is an American R&B group, with the lead singers, Brandon & Brian Casey, born in Hartford, CT on October 13, 1975, Kyle Normanof Decatur. Check back tomorrow as we look back on “JE Heartbreak”. This is the first in our week long celebration of Jagged Edge’s music counting down to the release of their 8th album “JE Heartbreak II”. A fan favorite from this album is the group’s cover of The Gap Band’s “Wednesday Lover” on which the group did not disappoint The album, which was released in a partnership with Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def label and Columbia Records, really put the group on the map as they scored smashes like “I Gotta Be” and “The Way That You Talk.” It’s been reported that the group was originally introduced to Dupri through Kandi Burress, and he’s had a huge hand in their successs through the years. In 2006, the group released their last album to date, the self titled Jagged Edge.Jagged Edge released their debut album “A Jagged Era” back in 1997. During the same year, Dupri and So So Def left for Arista Records but Jagged Edge stayed with Columbia. The album's single 'Walked Outta Heaven' performed well on the charts, reaching #6 on the Hot 100 and #2 on the R&B charts. Hard, Jagged Edge's fourth album, was released in 2003 and went gold. It's success was in large part, due to the up-tempo 'Where The Party At,' which reached #1 on the R&B charts and #3 on the Hot 100, the group's highest charting single. The group's third release, Jagged Little Thrill, was released in 2001 and went platinum. It also featured the track 'Promise' which, albeit a late single coming out in 2001, reached #1 on the R&B charts and #9 on the Hot 100. The album's second single, 'He Can't Love You' had similar success, reaching #3 on the R&B charts and #15 on the Hot 100. The album went double platinum and had the hit single 'Let's Get Married' which topped the R&B charts and reached #11 on the Hot 100. The album was the group's breakthrough with several popular singles. The album managed to go gold and featured the single 'Gotta Be.' The track reached #11 on the R&B charts and #23 on the Hot 100.įollowing up their debut album, Jagged Edge released J.E. In 1998, the group released their first album, A Jagged Era. Kandi took the group's demo to Jermaine Dupri who signed them to his So So Def label. The group is comprised of identical twins Brandon and Brian Casey, Kyle Norman and Richard Wingo, who was added by recommendation of Kandi Burruss of Xscape.
